Project Description

Sharon Griffin

Sharon’s sculptures capture the essence of humanity at its rawest sense.

Playful marks dance around the features of each figure, giving the underlying idea that the sculpture is a living being rather than a still ornamental object. Sharon uses clay as an artistic medium to be witness to the inner self, drawing upon her passion of nature, folklore and stories; as well as her own experiences of being a woman. Sharon approaches the clay as a fine artist would; using stoneware, slips and glazes to ‘draw’ into the surfaces, leaving spaces for the imagination to fill in.
